I have a Necron army and the only HQ available is the Necron Lord with 3 Wounds. What can I do? As with the above question there are several possible solutions. Firstly, TOUGH! A patrol does not need an HQ choice, so as the only HQ choice in a Necron army has 3 wounds you can't take it. Secondly, IGNORE IT! These are only suggestions, not official rules if you want to change them to suit your style of play then go ahead, it's your hobby after all, however if you use a Necron Lord, I personally feel that that is not in the 'Spirit of the game.' Thirdly, make a slight alteration to the offending profile. The codexes are written to allow players to create typical armies for the race in question. Necrons are a huge and varied 'race', somewhere there is bound to be a lesser type of leader, just make some alterations to the stat line, eg reduce the wounds and maybe attacks or initiative, then reduce the points cost accordingly. Remember if you are going to do this you must let your opponent know before play commences. I can now draw your attention to the Necron Thane HQ choice featured in the Codex Amendments section of this site.
